Fran completed her LLB Law at University of Warwick in 2003 and went straight on to do her LPC at the College of Law in York. Fran spent several years undertaking project management work in the fields of community development, crime and disorder reduction and regeneration prior to doing her training contract at a local firm. During her training contract, Fran spent the majority of time in personal injury and family departments and practised family law upon qualification.
In 2010, Fran moved to Australia. She was keen to continue to practise law, but was required to undertake further study to be admitted as an Australian lawyer in the Supreme Court of Victoria. Fran studied at Deakin University, Melbourne, whilst working for Ryan Legal, a boutique personal injury and clinical negligence firm in regional Victoria, specialising in medical negligence, public liability, interstate and insurance claims for clients across Australia and internationally.
Fran initially started speaking to SJP Law in January 2017 as she was considering a move back to the UK to be closer to family. For Fran, the biggest attraction to the firm was the complexity of work undertaken by the compensation team, as well as the mix of representing clients and being able to be out and about within the community, building new relationships and supporting charities. In addition, as a working mum, Fran was keen to have flexible working options, which were readily available. Fran was delighted to be offered a role as a solicitor and started at SJP Law in June 2017 after relocating back to the UK. Fran now works 4 days per week, with working hours to fit around childcare.
Since joining SJP Law, Fran has developed a number of relationships across the health sector and voluntary sector, organised and supported events such as the Mental Health Marketplace and Expert Witness Training for psychologists and psychotherapists, as well as charities seminars and coffee mornings. Fran has also been working hard to support her clients to get their lives back on track.
In addition to balancing work and family life, Fran has discovered running and earlier this year, completed the Royal Parks.
