EMPLOYMENT YEAR SERVICE

The Employment Year Service (EYS) is an innovative approach to the constantly changing face of Employment Law.

The EYS can benefit you and your business by:

  • Taking day-to-day employment and HR responsibilities off your desk, allowing you more time to concentrate on running your business
  • Allowing you more control over your workforce - improving productivity, discipline, morale and ultimately your business' profits
  • Removing the need for you to keep up to date on all the latest employment legislation - we tell you what you need to know and help you implement any necessary changes
  • Adding value to your business by keeping up to date employment contracts and procedures, reducing the risk of employment disputes and helping your business maintain management best practice. This makes it more attractive to a potential purchaser and prevents employment issues being used to reduce the business valuation
  • Allowing you to budget your legal costs - the EYS is paid for by a fixed fee for a year's subscription

The service is run by fully qualified lawyers with the experience to deal quickly and accurately with any query you may have, no matter how trivial it may seem.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE EMPLOYMENT YEAR SERVICE?

The EYS is designed specifically for your business and provides advice, documentation and procedures that are tailored to fit your current and future needs.

One of the biggest risks faced by a business in the current climate is from its own employees. The EYS features all the required elements to help protect your business:

  • Initial audit - identifies any potential problems before they arise and offers quick and effective solutions
  • Tailored Terms and Conditions of Employment for your employees
  • Staff Handbook/Procedures
  • Telephone Helpline on all Employment Related Matters, manned by qualified solicitors from 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday
  • Regular Updates of Changes in Legislation
  • Backing of a Firm of Solicitors (members of the Law Society and regulated by the SRA)
  • Employer Protection Insurance (if required)*
  • Health and Safety Policy Advice

*subject to the rules and policy of the relevant insurance provider, as amended from time to time, you satisfying the normal underwriting requirements of the insurance provider and payment of a premium to the insurance provider

How is it different?

The EYS is not an 'off the shelf' package and avoids providing you with a raft of standard documentation and asking you to fill in the blanks. There are common elements built around the legislation but the essential link is in getting to know you, your business and the nature of your workforce.

Your business' employment documentation and procedures are of vital importance in heading off expensive litigation and keeping your workforce happy but this is not all we at Stamp Jackson & Procter are interested in.

Factors such as what your business does, where it is going, where it wants to get to, what kinds of staff it requires and when, and how your workers are likely to react in certain situations are just as important as the legal jargon.

By developing a personal relationship with you and your business' management team, and by considering all of the factors mentioned above, we can provide practical and cost-effective legal advice tailored specifically to you and your business.

Each part of the EYS is carefully considered to provide you and your business with the confidence that there will be no hidden surprises (such as expensive litigation) and any issues that do arise can be dealt with quickly and professionally.  There are qualified and experienced solicitors ready to provide immediate advice, allowing you to concentrate on running your business.

CASE EXAMPLE

While advising a medium sized business on a potential unfair dismissal claim, it became clear that the owner-managers were struggling to keep pace with the ever changing area of employment law.

Rather than fight a losing battle in keeping up to date, or looking to recruit a dedicated HR manager, the business subscribed to the Employment Year Service.

Three months later new employment contracts had been issued to all employees along with a new Staff Handbook. The unfair dismissal problem had been solved in a quick, cost-effective and confidential manner.

The owner-managers of the business reported a decrease in disputes over future years. They no longer had to worry about whether the law had changed and knew each year exactly how much the EYS was going to cost their business.

"Employers need not be spending their time considering how to deal with day-to-day employment problems or disputes, or keeping up to date with new laws that may or may not have an effect on their business. They can simply ask us what they need to do.  Having a qualified solicitor on hand to provide practical employment advice quickly can be of great use and comfort to those who operate businesses without a dedicated HR function". Mark Daubney, Solicitor.
