Statutory Pay Increases

National Minimum Wage

With effect from 1 October 2009 the National Minimum Wage is due to increase to £5.80 per hours for workers aged 22 and over.  The development rate for workers aged 18-21 will increase to £4.83 per hour.  The rate for 16-17 year olds will increase to £3.57 per hour.

Statutory Redundancy Payment

From 1 October 2009, the maximum amount of "a week's pay" for employees made redundant will increase from £350 to £380 per week.

This amount is usually increased in February each year but has been brought forward to help employees being made redundant in the current economic climate.  It is expected that this limit will remain unchanged until February 2011.
