Commercial Division helps local business

A practice like Stamp Jackson & Procter lives and works closely with its clients and the local community. Its primary role is to protect and enhance its clients' investments. With M&A, setting up and negotiating a deal is only part of the story and much of the work lies in removing the stumbling blocks and avoiding the pitfalls in the nitty gritty of business life such as transfer of employees, redundancy arrangements and planning regulations.
In advising on a recent MBO and financial re-structuring, Stamp Jackson & Procter assisted a high tech business flourishing in a rural environment to reverse their ‘red tape’ problems. In this instance the parent company of which the unit was part, was not comfortable with the demanding specifications and terms required to fulfil their contracts. The management took the opportunity to develop the business independently and relied on Stamp Jackson & Procter to provide a secure legal start.
Regulations and ‘red tape’ should not be allowed to stand in the way of business develop through either M&A or new business formations. All too often, the management time and energy that should be spent on driving the business ahead is dissipated in administering the legislative burden. Alistair Latham, Partner.
